Most women considering extensions have done a lot of research and still aren't sure what to expect. That's not a gap in your knowledge — it's a gap in how this industry communicates. Extensions are one of the most customized, technical services in the beauty world, and the information available online is either oversimplified or intimidating.
TEXASTIDE™ is my signature hand-tied extension method — developed and refined through years of work with women who want length and fullness that moves, blends, and lasts. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you reach out to the moment you walk out with your hair.
Why Hand-Tied Extensions Are Different
Not all extensions are created equal. The method matters as much as the hair itself — and hand-tied extensions are the most natural-looking, most comfortable, and most hair-healthy method available.
Unlike tape-ins or fusion extensions, hand-tied wefts are sewn onto small, flat beaded rows that sit flush against the scalp. There's no glue. No heat applied to the root. No bulk at the attachment point. The result is a seamless blend that moves like your natural hair — because it's designed to.
"Hand-tied extensions done well are invisible. Not because they're hidden — but because they look like they grew that way."
TEXASTIDE™ uses only the highest quality Remy human hair, selected and matched specifically for your natural density, texture, and color. Every set is custom. Nothing about this process is one-size-fits-all.
The Consultation — What Actually Happens
The TEXASTIDE™ consultation is a $50 reservation fee for a 20-minute appointment. That fee secures your time and covers the planning work that happens before your install — it's not a sales call, and there's no pressure to proceed.
In that consultation, we cover everything that determines whether extensions are right for you and what your result will look like:
What We Discuss in Your Consultation
- Your natural hair. Density, texture, health, and current length all affect which extension method, weight, and placement will work best for you.
- Color matching. I assess your natural color and any existing color to determine what hair will blend seamlessly — or whether we need to do color work before or during the install.
- Your lifestyle. How you style your hair, how active you are, how often you're willing to come in for maintenance — all of this shapes what I recommend.
- Your goals. Length, fullness, or both. Dramatic transformation or subtle enhancement. I need to understand what you're actually looking for before I can tell you what's possible.
- Maintenance expectations. Hand-tied extensions require maintenance every 6–8 weeks. We talk about what that looks like, what it costs, and how to care for your extensions at home.
The Install — What to Expect
The TEXASTIDE™ install starts at $300 and takes approximately 2+ hours, depending on the number of rows and the amount of hair being added. This is separate from the cost of the hair itself, which starts at $800+ and is determined by the length, weight, and amount needed for your specific result.
On install day, you'll arrive with clean, dry hair — no product. The process involves placing small beaded rows at strategic points on the scalp, then hand-sewing custom wefts onto those rows. It's methodical, precise work. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure — not painful.
After the wefts are placed, I cut and blend the extensions into your natural hair. This blending cut is what separates a great extension result from a detectable one. It's where the artistry happens — and it's included in every TEXASTIDE™ install.
"Anyone can apply extensions. Making them disappear into your hair — that's the skill."
Maintenance — What Comes After
Hand-tied extensions require maintenance appointments every 6–8 weeks. At Salon Osso, maintenance is $300 per visit. During this appointment, the rows are moved up as your natural hair grows, the wefts are checked and replaced as needed, and the blending cut is refreshed.
Skipping or delaying maintenance causes tension on the natural hair and compromises the integrity of the install. The 6–8 week window isn't arbitrary — it's based on the rate of natural hair growth and what the hair can comfortably support.
Daily Care for TEXASTIDE™ Extensions
- Brush from ends to roots using a soft-bristle or loop brush — never pull through from the root
- Sleep in a loose braid or low bun to prevent tangling overnight
- Use sulfate-free shampoo and apply conditioner from mid-shaft to ends only — never at the root or bead row
- Avoid oil-based products near the root — they can loosen the beads over time
- Always use heat protectant before styling with hot tools
- Do not go to bed with wet hair — extensions take longer to dry and tangling is significantly more likely
Who TEXASTIDE™ Is For
Hand-tied extensions are appropriate for most hair types and textures — but they're not right for everyone. Very fine, fragile, or significantly damaged hair may not be able to support the weight of extensions safely. This is one of the reasons the consultation exists: to assess your hair honestly and make sure we're setting you up for a result that lasts and doesn't compromise your natural hair health.
The women who get the most from TEXASTIDE™ are those who are ready to invest in the maintenance, committed to caring for their extensions properly at home, and clear on what they want to achieve. If that's you — I'd love to have the conversation.
